Pantone announces Color of the Year

Pantone Color of Year

Every year Pantone, the authority on all things color related, determines what the “Color of the Year” will be. The organization makes a determination based on research into the trends affecting design, products, and overall mood of society in general. This year, the choice is “Greenery,” Pantone 15-0343.

According to the Pantone announcement:

“Greenery is a fresh and zesty yellow-green shade that evokes the first days of spring when nature’s greens revive, restore and renew…[it] signals consumers to take a deep breath, oxygenate, and reinvigorate.”

A little ethereal and New Age-y sounding, this description is appropriate, I think, given the tumultuous election year we just finished and many people’s uncertainty about the future. It is a hopeful color, one that evokes the idea of growth, good health, sustainability, and money. All of these seem like great ideas to me.
