Road to Ironman begins with Partnership

When Josh Christie, Indicia Design’s Principal of New Business, decided to take on the challenge of competing in an Ironman in 2013, he immediately saw a connection between and benefit for some of the firm’s clients, and his ultimate goal of promoting health and wellness. Obesity is a hot topic affecting all socio-economic groups within the United States, and is constantly discussed throughout the media.


With childhood and adult obesity increasing, individual sports such as 5K, Half Marathons, Marathons and Triathlons are on the rise in popularity. Events such as these are hitting record registration numbers—the Chicago Marathon selling out over 40,000 spots in six days, and the Florida and Arizona Ironman general registrations selling out in just under one minute.




Indicia is passionate about helping to promote local events in and around Kansas City, with an ongoing relationship with the Kansas City Sports Commission, and participation in several marathons and races around the city. Josh approached Indicia’s clients in healthcare, fitness, and sports about his training for the upcoming Ironman, suggesting a co-op marketing opportunity. By sponsoring his involvement in the Ironman, clients would not only create awareness of their companies’ contributions to well-being, but also help create awareness for the overall health and wellness initiatives that so many Americans are focused on.
